Evers Unveils Small Business Grant Program
Governor Evers announced today a grant program to assist small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Governor is planning to use $75 million from the federal CARES Act funding the state received to provide grants to small businesses to assist them with lost revenues, health and safety improvements, wages and salaries, and mortgages. Further details of the grant program will be announced later this month, and businesses can begin applying in June. Grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded to small businesses with 20 or fewer employees.
Grant recipients will become part of a new initiative called “We’re All In” by committing to and using safety protocols to protect their customers and employees. The Tavern League of Wisconsin applauds Governor Evers for this step to assist small businesses, as early on in the pandemic we called on using the CARES ACT to help small businesses recover from the economic disruption caused by COVID-19.
